Class Presentation & Multimedia File

The syllabus is the most important document for students to understand. It outlines the topics of the course, the pacing, the policies and the expectations of students. It is important for instructors to be as clear as possible and explain any aspect whenever necessary. Syllabus etiquette, however, dictates that the document should be only one sheet of paper. My solution: give a one sheet syllabus but provide a slide show presentation outlining all of the courses policies. I have given a variation of this slide presentation to every class I have taught at Penn State and I have found it to be very useful. Below is one example of such a slide presentation.

This year, I decided to go beyond making the slide show presentation available to students. For those who missed the first class, which can happen to a sizable subset of students, having a video explaining each slide is very useful. I made this slide presentation for the students in this semester's Math 231 course.
