MATH 497A: Introduction to Applied Algebraic Geometry
Welcome! I am the teaching assistant for this course, which is part of Penn State's 2015 MASS program. The course is set up to cover fundamentals of algebraic geometry, including
polynomial rings, ideals, and varieties;
affine and projective spaces, Segre varieties, secant varieties, and tensor rank; and
group actions on varieties.
Because this course is applied, we will cover techniques used in many applications. In particular, the course will study applications to statistics, quantum information, and computational complexity.
